A community of therapists in Detroit who provide diverse clinical skills to assist clients in discovering themselves and reaching their desired healthy balance through active outpatient therapy and psychological evaluations. Our goal is to meet an individual where they are and assist them in discovering their desired healthy balance.
The founder of Authentic Self Psychological Services, Dr. Kristina Kalaj, a seasoned fully licensed clinical psychologist has been serving the Detroit metro area for over 25+ years. Dr. Kalaj has proudly provided outpatient psychological services, supervision, and evaluations (ADHD, Psychological, Learning, and 504 evaluations) for school aged and adults throughout her career.

Clinical Psychologist - ASPS Founder
I have been a licensed clinical psychologist for 30+ years. As a generalist clinician i provide outpatient services to adult clients with wide variety of concern. I have never treated two clients the same in all my years of experience. I believe it is imperative to understand an individual with the approach of knowing I am a new part of their system. As we work together, we will explore who you currently are, what developed you into this individual, and discover where you want to move towards with the ultimate goal of finding your authentic self. As a generalist, i pull in a diverse gamut of skills to achieve your goals for you, which can include cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, and systems therapy. I also created my own unique style of storytelling therapy into my repertoire to aid in insight.
The services I provide include outpatient psychological services (18+); psychological and psychoeducational evaluations (ADHD, Psychological, Learning, and 504 evaluations) school aged throughout adulthood (5-65); supervision; advocacy; and consultation. I am nationally licensed and can provide services in over 40 states.
I am a proud female business owner in the city of Detroit who is invested in building a practice that will meet the needs of the city its housed in and the metro Detroit area. My vision is to expand the practice to have a skilled team of professionals that can meet the needs of anyone who walks through our office (in-person or virtually).
My reverent goal is to meet an individual where they are, unearth what is impeding their potential, and assist them in discovering their desired healthy balance.
Kristina Kalaj, PsyD, LP
As the founder of Authentic Self Psychological Services my primary goal is to create a group practice that will not only employee a diverse group of individuals but also create a safe space for clients with all types of therapeutic issues from a wide gamut of backgrounds. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and eager to serve the Detroit and Metro Detroit communities.
The goal is to create an eclectic community of providers that foster a fulfilling work environment for all therapists and provide a space to expand services to meet each of their occupational passions. We pride ourselves on being a place people feel heard and seen as visionaries for the field and their career.
We are hiring
We are seeking a Psychologist/Therapist to join our growing practice for an Independent Contractor position with flexible hours. We are open to hiring a virtual, hybrid, &/or in person therapists. We are open seven days a week and have both daytime and evening hours. Our practice provides a variety of services including therapy to individuals, couples, and families, as well as psychological evaluations and consultations to schools.
Clinicians have the opportunity to create their own fee-for-service practices which could include evaluation, psychotherapy, consultation, supervision, and/or training, with the benefits of a strong referral base, an excellent community reputation, and full billing services. A Michigan license of the following: LLP, LP, LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, and/or LLPC in the state of Michigan with no active complaints or past sanctions against license should apply. Any PsyPact LP’s can also apply for virtual positions.
