FAQs

Q. Do we offer telehealth or in-person?

We offer in-person, virtual/telehealth, or a hybrid option.

Q. What insurance providers do we take?

For individual therapy, the therapist accepts BCBS, BCN, Aetna, and self-pay, while Dr. Kristina Kalaj only accepts BCBS, Aetna, and self-pay. For couples therapy, insurance does not cover this treatment option. (See the Services page for more information)

Q. Which types of treatment/services do we provide?

We offer outpatient individual therapy for adults, couples therapy, supervision, psychological/psychoeducational/504 evaluations, and school-based accommodation advocacy.

Q. What would my first session look like?

The first session entails an in-depth intake where we ask you lots of questions about all aspects of your life so an individualized treatment plan can be created for you. The therapy will start after the intake is completed.

Q. How do I know if my therapist is a good fit?

We offer a free phone consultation to explore if we are a good fit for each other. Also after six sessions, the intake plus five therapy sessions we have an open discussion to reassess if we feel we are able to work together effectively to meet your goals. If it is decided not to proceed any longer, we will recommend/refer you to another therapist that could meet your needs better.

Q. How will I know what my deductible and/or copay is?

After you complete the online intake packet we will send you a copy of your benefits. We are able to gather an estimated assumption of your benefits, we will not have a solidified answer until your insurance pays for the intake and the first therapy session. You are always encouraged to call member services and inquire directly with your insurance prior to your first session.

Q. What if I want to see a therapist at Authentic Self Psychological Services but you do not take my insurance?

If you have out-of-network benefits from your insurance you can still be a client at ASPS. You would have to verify that your insurance offers out-of-network benefits. You would pay us up front and we would provide a superbill to submit to your insurance and they would decide how much to pay you back for services.
